Testimonials

“Without your help I’m not sure how I would cope. I generally use the time to have a few hours to myself, whether that’s having a shower and doing housework or just putting clean washing away, as my life is hectic and sometimes my only break is when Sharon comes in. Mentally it helps me a great deal, I’m able to feel refreshed and ready to take on what life brings. I can’t thank you enough”.

“Our Home-Start volunteer was exactly what I needed. I felt so low that I couldn’t go anywhere with the children – they missed out on so much. Our volunteer was wonderful, not just a set of hands, she came with the best attitude and my favourite day of the week was whenever I knew she was coming. The boys loved her, I loved seeing them interact with someone other than me. Them being happy to go out made me incredibly happy and the volunteer and I managed every crazy scenario with laughter and fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better person. ”.

Dana's Story
They taught me how to trust and have faith again. Just having that interaction once a week has helped me to be happier for my son. I’m truly grateful for their care and support and treating me with compassion and care with no judgement.
Dana's Story

When Dana was first referred to Home-Start, she was a single mum living in temporary accommodation after facing homelessness. With no local support network, she felt isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of her abilities as a parent. Thanks to the kindness and encouragement of her Home-Start volunteer, Dana began to rebuild her confidence, find community connections, and create a brighter future for herself and her young son.
