Established in 1997, Home-Start Isle of Wight is a local charity run by a Board of Trustees. This family support service for families on the Island was set up to offer a service, free at the point of access that would be available to all. We work in partnership with other voluntary and statutory agencies.
The scheme has six staff who work closely with a network of around thirty trained volunteers who carry out home-visiting support to families. For more details about Home-Start Isle of Wight please view our Information Leaflet.

Home-Start Isle of Wight recruits and trains local volunteers and carefully matches a volunteer to visit a family in their own home for a couple of hours a week. All of the families we support must have at least one child under five.
Home-Start Family Groups are ‘invitation only’, for families referred to Home-Start. This keeps the groups small for those parents and children who struggle to attend mainstream groups. We currently run groups in partnership with Family Centres in Cowes, East Cowes, East and West Newport, Ryde, Shanklin and Sandown. The groups run each week during term time with picnics arranged during the summer holidays. Our groups are an opportunity for parents and children to gain in confidence and to meet new people.
